Blog v Wiki
In today's networked world, blogs and wikis are like a platform for people to communicate, publish, express and share their thoughts, ideas, opinions and knowledge on web sites. There's no need to meet face to face but around the world. Without blogs and wikis, it will be hard for us to share our knowledge with each other worldwide. Some people may say they use other social media more than these two, such as Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, etc. But blogs and wikis are the base and inspiration of these social media. In fact, while students doing their homework and need to do research, which tool would they use first? Of course, wikis and blogs.
Wikis and blogs are both simple to use. They can be accessible to anyone in the world through a web browser. But the key difference is, Wiki is a more collaborative website which everyone can edit and update the page, and Blog is a more personal website which one individual edit and update the page but others only can comment. In Beta and Beyond's article, we can make the blogs be used for collaboration. Like making a blogroll, allowing other bloggers' posts show up on the site. Also, bloggers can host some challenges or contests to the readers and other bloggers. In addition, Wiki can have new use too. Like writer Emily Brennan has a new thought of sharing information about traveling on wikis. For an extension, people can share their favorite restaurants or foods on wikis. With combining more people's thoughts, opinions and research, people can know more about the place they plan to visit more.
