Creativity and New Media
When I think of creativity and new media, I immediately think of second life games. And one of the second life game that I first played and I'm still playing is the Sims series. Sims is a life simulation video game series developed by the Redwood Shores studio of Maxis and published by Electronic Arts. You can create a character or even a family in Sims and build a house for them. Characters can attend school, go to work, cooking, relaxing, or even build a family by themselves in Sims. That was totally the second life of us. The reason I like to play Sims and still playing this game now is I like decoration. In real life, I don't have that many houses that I can decorate whatever I like and change them every time if I change my mind. I can have various creative or unrealistic ideas to become true in Sims. That was my second world for me, allows me to express all the creativity about decoration and interior design.
Hi XiaoHua! For my creativity blog, I also shared something that I recently started playing; Minecraft. Very much like Sims, its a super interactive game. I think the biggest difference between the two is that Minecraft is catered to individuals that want to create and build with their friends. It's a game that has a lot to do with collective efforts. However, Sims is something where you can decide for yourself how you want your character to grow and develop. I remember when I started playing Sims but eventually stopped because it was extremely time consuming. I really like how Sims mimics real-time scenarios. I agree that Sims allows you to be creative with resources you might not have in real-life.
